Downtown District
The Downtown District of Regina is bustling with all sorts of businesses, shopping and activities enjoyed by the local residents and visitors alike. The Downtown district is located in nearly the centre in the City of Regina bordering the Warehouse District neighbourhood to the North, the General Hospital neighbourhood to the East, the Cathedral neighbourhood to the West, and the Transition Area neighbourhood to the South.

There are quite a few designated Heritage buildings in the downtown neighborhood including St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Motherwell building, Hotel Saskatchewan, Knox Metropolitan Church, Balfour Apartments, First Baptist Church, The Assiniboia Club, and many more! The Cornwall Shopping Centre is in the Downtown District neighborhood and features over 90 stores and services. Right near the centre of Regina and anchoring the Downtown District with a historic common green space you’ll find Victoria Park – established in 1907. The park is host to many events throughout the year including annual favourites like the Regina Folk Festival. The park has an outdoor skating rink in the Winter and is a prime location to hang out and enjoy lunch in the Summer time or play at the Lion’s Club toddler playground. The Regina Cenotaph is located in Victoria Park and was first unveiled on November 11, 1926 to honor the Regina fallen soldiers of World War I, it was rededicated in 1990 to include those Regina soldiers who lost their lives in World War II and the Korean War. City Square plaza includes Victoria Park, the F.W. Hill mall, and the recently added city square plaza.
The Awesome Regina Farmer’s market runs outdoors at the City Square Plaza from May – mid October every Saturday and Wednesday and offers fresh fruits and vegetables, baking, crafts, flowers, food trucks and so much more. Some other major attractions in the Downtown District area are Casino Regina, the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame/Museum, the beautiful and historic Hotel Saskatchewan, City Hall, Globe Theatre, YMCA & YWCA, Regina Public Library – Central and Children’s branch, as well as multiple restaurants, pubs, retail stores and government and private offices.
